Christmas in Connecticut

This weekend I kept (and by kept I mean babysat) two little boys ages 1 and 3. They were a handful, but I got to read many children's books aloud and change lots of diapers. I had never been with a baby for longer than a few hours, so a 36 hour period was a new experience. I'm glad God made babies so lovable, adorable, and simply wonderful because it really balances out the less-than-fun parts of child care.

Last night I saw Chronicals of Narnia. I approve. I loved it.

Today I made a pumpkin pie to take to the Sarratt Desk workers holiday party. It was a pretty good party because I got 2nd place in a holiday trivia game, and I got to hear about an MLA convention (as in the handbook) that one of the girls is going to over break. Can you believe it?? An MLA convention! I would really enjoy that I think.

In the midst of all this fun, I have been doing to light studying/writing and exam taking. One down, three to go, I suppose. I'm going to stop and smell the fake roses that sit in the mug on my desk now.

Upon request, I am bringing my xanga back, and in full force too. The week of finals is the best time to start procrastinating. So, I am almost about to start being finished with classes. Yes. I am looking forward to not going to my "physics for everyone" lab ever again. I also get to go to conversational English today, which is a wonderful thing. One of the girls I talk to loaned me a Korean gospel music cd last week. Oh, how I love it! If I'm lucky I will also get to play inner tube water polo this evening, which is my new second favorite sport to play, I think. What a Wednesday!

This is the first entry made since I've been in my new residence known as "The Loo." We are all moved in, and the place is quite cozy. If you have not yet stopped by to visit, you definitely should. I shall now list just a few of the wonderful things I am enjoying about being back at school:

1. Going for walks in centennial park, and also swinging on the swings, while having heart-to-hearts.

2. Sleeping in the barraks with two of the most wonderful roomies, ever.

3. Having stellar individuals over to play games, such as categories.

4. Attending my class that is in the newly renovated Buttrick Hall, which is quite lovely.

5. Seeing God work in the BCM and my church; it is truly amazing!

Rather than reflect on how quickly time goes by and all that junk, I just want to say that I am excited to be where I am. Yay!

I have spent the last two weeks in Pampa indulging myself in certrain areas of weakness, those being procrastination, laziness, and buying old furniture and other housewares. I have yet to do some things that have been on my mental to-do list for two solid weeks, and I have had a nap almost everyday. I am not all that proud of those things, but what I am proud of is my new/old chair that I bought. It is gold and solf and fuzzy. It will make its home in the Lew in about a week, but for now it is in the garage.

Yesterday, I got to help my dad replace the front cv joints on my car (the cv joints turn the wheels). I turned the steering wheel to the left and to the right, put the car in and out of gear, and put my foot on the brake only to take it off again. I also handed him items such as a pickle fork prying tool, a rubber hammer, and various sockets and air guns. Every now and then I would raise the jack and let it down. If I have one regret about how I spent my time in high school and middle school, it is that I never spent much time with my dad working on cars, so I am trying to make up for it.

I enjoy the slow-paced life here after a busy summer at UBC, but I really am getting excited to see everyone at school soon!!
